Usually these indices are not computerized, and they are in big, hand-written volumes. Try the vital records dept. at 1250 Punch Bowl Ave., Rm 103 in Honolulu. Don't go in and ask for Obama's birth certificate! Just ask to see the birth record index - for all anyone knows you are looking for information on your long-lost brother. I'd do this myself, but I can't get to Hawaii just now! I'm interested in seeing if anyone does this, and what happens.
