(HONOLULU) (May 6, 2012) Independent Republican Presidential candidate and conservative blogger Andy Martin, the man who single-handedly created the anti-Obama “Birther” movement and then distanced himself from his creation, will hold aHonolulu news conference today,Sunday, May 6, 2012 to charge thatHawai’i officials are still illegally denying access to President Barack Obama’s original birth certificate.
Andy says, “President Obama claims to have made a ‘copy’ of his original birth certificate available. He even posted a copy of the copy on the official White House web site (link below). If the birth certificate is public, how canHawaiiofficials seek to keep it private? Obama has waived any privacy or secrecy rights by publicly releasing what he says is a copy of an authentic document.
“One of the basic principles of scholarly research and writing is that scholars always want to examine the original. Researchers deal with reviewing original texts, not accepting web site reproductions of official records as alternatives. Even an original copy of the Declaration of Independence is available at the National Archives. What’s wrong withHawai’i?
“Hawai’iofficials are embarrassing president Obama and lighting a match to a new firestorm of Birther controversy (seeNorth Carolinalink below). While I disassociate myself from extreme elements of the Birther movement, I believe it is absolutely necessary and appropriate forHawaiiofficials to allow access and viewing of the original record now that the president has authorized release of that document. How can you say the document is ‘secret’ when the president has posted what he says is a copy of the document on the White House web site?”

Re: President Barack Obama’s original birth certificate
Dear Director Fuddy:
Way back in 2008 I sued the HDOH when it refused to provide access to President Barack Obama’s original birth certificate. The mumbo jumbo at the time was that record was “secret.”Hawaii’s notoriously corrupt judicial system rubber-stamped the decision.
Since then President Obama has sent someone toHawai’i, received a certified copy of the original document, and posted it on the White House web site. So the information contained on the original is no longer secret. Secrecy has been waived.
Nevertheless, as a scholar and historian I would like to examine the original document. Scholars and researchers always examine original texts and not electronic copies. The document is a historical archive.
I am coming toHonolulunext week and I would like to make arrangements to view the original copy of the Obama birth certificate. I assume you are no longer making arguments based on secrecy since the document is no longer secret.
Please let me know what arrangements can be made to view the original Obama birth certificate.
I would appreciate a response by fax or email as I am on the road a great deal and these come right to my computer.

Seriously! You really can’t be so stupid that you don’t know that at the bottom of original birth certificates, there is confidential medical and social information that is collected for research and statistics. Where do you think the CDC gets their birth data?
That info is never included in a certified copy of a birth certificate.
President Obama did not and cannot make that confidential part public and the DOH will not and cannot either.
