FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
ANDY MARTIN PREDICTS CHRISTINE O’DONNELL WINS DELAWARE IN NOVEMBER
MARTIN SAYS A “WAVE” IS BUILDING THAT IS GOING TO SWEEP AWAY MUCH OF THE OLD POLITICAL ORDER
(NEW YORK)(September 16, 2010) No sooner had Christine O’Donnell won the Delaware primary for U. S. Senator than Carl Rove was on Fox News trashing her as a sure loser. I beg to differ with Mr. Rove. O’Donnell is a sure winner. Christine O’Donnell is going to the U. S. Senate.
Rove is a bright guy. And a lot of bright people in the Republican Party agree with him. But they’re wrong. It’s a cultural thing. Rove is a millionaire and making a fortune. People in both parties in Washington are prospering. Most of us are not.
Every so often a tsunami wave comes along and sweeps people into office that would normally lose. 2010 is such a year.
In fact, Rove on the right, and the liberal media on the left, have already become unwitting agents of O’Donnell’s November election.
I don’t know what O’Donnell’s financial problems are. And I am not going to study them carefully. But I do know most Americans are struggling right now. Those that are not struggling are afraid they “might be next.” The more Rove-on-the-right and the media-on-the-left attack O’Donnell for her financial problems, and for struggling with her life, and for her occasional loopy statement, the more they are going to make her acceptable to ordinary voters, even ordinary Democrats.
And look who she’s running against: a tax-addicted spend-and-spend Democrat. O’Donnell has the perfect foil.
I first went to Washington in 1966. That was a “wave” year. Illinois Republicans nominated Chuck Percy for U. S. Senator because they wanted him to lose (!). Senator Paul Douglas first spoke to me about the coming wave. He was a sure winner who became a loser when the wave hit. I have been studying political waves since then.
I saw what Barack Obama was doing to America last year. That is when I first began to expect a wave to hit him in 2010. And, on schedule, the wave is on the way. Obama can’t stop it.
In my book “Obama: the Man Behind the Mask,” I prepared a psychological profile of Obama [in 2007]. I predicted in 2007 how Obama would see the wave coming and freeze. He’s pretty cold right now.
I don’t feel I am going out on a limb predicting O’Donnell’s victory in November. Because this election is not about Christine O’Donnell, or Sharron Angle or any of the other “Tea Party” candidates that have turned up as surprise winners in primary elections. The “wave” is behind them. They are going to sweep away what is in front of them.
“Wave” elections are totally different from ordinary campaigns. When a political wave hits it washes away everything in it way. In the days ahead I’ll give more detailed reasons for my belief that this is a wave election. But trust me. Republicans are going to be elected who could never be elected in any other year.
Pollster Dick Morris is also predicting a transformative campaign. He’s right. Lionel, my friend who originally hails from Tampa Bay and who is now a WPIX-TV commentator in New York, also feels the early oscillations of the wave. He’s right too.
Look what happened in O’Donnell’s primary. She began as a joke, a sure loser. A month ago O’Donnell was still a joke. Two weeks ago she was a dead duck. A week ago she became a remote threat. And this week the wave hit and a she defeated a sure winner. Congressman Castle was washed away.
What happened? The more the media and her own party establishment ganged up on O’Donnell, and the more they beat up on her, the stronger she became. Her opponents validated her independence.
Everyone agrees people are angry. [In addition to being a “wave” election, this is a “sleeping giant” election; more of the “giant” later.] Ordinary voters are suffering in a way that the media still can’t portray or comprehend. There is a climate of fear. Growing. People have gone from the luxury of confidence and affluence in 2008 to an attitude of financial fear in 2010.
If Ms. O’Donnell has suffered, and is still suffering, economic problems she has a lot of company. If everyone who lost a job, or feels insecure about the future of their job, votes for her, and if the media energize the process by constantly ridiculing O’Donnell, she is a sure winner.
No one has produced a plan on how to revive our economy. Anything goes. And every candidate who is for “anything goes,” will be swept along by the wave.
O’Donnell’s views on the issues don’t matter. I don’t anticipate campaign debates over the virtues or vices of masturbation, which seems to be an O’Donnell topic of special interest. I have no idea where she stands on abortion. But I do know that O’Donnell will be a disruptive, and therefore a transformative force in the U. S. senate.
Which is why O’Donnell is the next U. S. Senator from Delaware.
“Wave” to her.
